Our Verdict

The Tommee Tippee Multiwarm Intuitive is part of our best bottle warmer review. This warmer is an expensive option with convoluted instructions. It is easy to use and doesn't overheat bottle contents utilizing the manufacturer's instructions, but it isn't very fast, and the icons are not intuitive. The Multiwarm is not very easy to use or clean, and the slow warming speed is likely to be frustrating to most parents, which could encourage them to use higher settings that could prove to create milk that is too hot. Overall, we think there are less expensive and better-performing choices in our tests that most parents will be happier with.

Our Analysis and Test Results

In 1960s California, three brothers in the plastic business designed a spill-resistant cup for toddlers, and it was less likely to tip over thanks to a weighted base. They named the cup after their dog, Tommee, and the first Tommee Tippee product was born. A British businessman became interested in the idea and decided to grow the product into a full-on business in the UK. Today, Tommee Tippee is part of the Mayborn group and sells toddler and baby feeding accessories worldwide.

Health and Safety

This warmer performed well in our testing for health and safety, with one of the highest results in the group. For these tests, we run the warmers using the manufacturer's instructions and at the highest possible setting (not recommended) to see if they get over 104 when the degradation of nutrients begins or if the contents can get hot enough to hurt. The highest observed temperature using the instructions was 96.9 degrees F, which is great. This is a similar result in our max setting tests.

Warming Efficiency and Consistency

The Multiwarm earned an above-average result for warming consistency. Using the manufacturer's instructions, at auto-shutoff, the bottle content temperature range was 73-82F, which is a range of 9 degrees. At 12 minutes, when we finished testing, the range was smaller from 90-96F, or 6 degrees across tests. This is significantly better than some competitors that had ranges of more than 15 degrees.

Quickness of Warming

Quickness is not a strong suit of this unit, with one of the lowest quickness scores in the group. The ideal bottle temperature is body temperature or 98F. Using the manufacturer's recommended guidelines, this warmer never heated any bottle contents over 97 degrees. At 12 minutes of warming, this warmer averaged 92F degrees across five test periods. At auto-shutoff of the water bath heating, the bottle contents had an average temperature of 77 degrees F.

The Mulitwarm doesn't have a lot of buttons, but we did need the user manual to help determine what the icons mean (especially the kind of bottle, plastic or glass).

Ease of Use

While the name claims it is intuitive, we don't think this is the case. It scored below the average for the group with one of the lowest results in our tests. While you can learn what the icons mean, and the instructions aren't difficult to understand, the icons for plastic and glass bottles are not intuitive.

The Multiwarm has a bottle basket that makes it easier to get the bottle in and out without touching the hot water.

We like the pictures in the manual and think it won't be a problem once you know your settings. The other issue we have is the water level is 9 oz. This is an odd number if you are measuring it as you need a two-cup device, and getting it exactly right can be challenging, especially if you are holding a little one. A fill line would have been more useful and is utilized by many competitors.

Ease of Cleaning

The Multiwarm did not score well in our cleaning tests, with one of the lowest results in the group. Daily cleaning is essentially dumping the water and wiping clean. We aren't sure this is getting anything clean, but suppose it does prevent unwanted growth of things that like to live in water.

The descaling instructions are vague and mention something about using a descaling solution without identifying what this would be. It also mentions following the instructions on the bottle of vinegar, which we don't think is a thing on all bottles of vinegar, making this even more confusing. We think they could have been clearer and wish the descaling vinegar to water ratio had been identified.

Should You Buy the Tommee Tippee Multiwarm Intuitive?

The Multiwarm scored well overall, but it has some hiccups that make it less desirable than other contenders. It is harder to use with less intuitive settings (despite the moniker), and we found it to be harder to clean than most. Overall, we don't see much to recommend here and think most families will be happier with other options. It is also one of the slowest warmers in the group. While there is no red flag moment here to say don't buy, we think most users can be happier with higher-scoring options.

What Other Bottle Warmer Should You Consider?

One of our favorite warmers is the First Years Gentle Warmth Digital. This option is easy to use and clean, fairly consistent, and wasn't the slowest. It took a lot to overheat the bottle contents using the manufacturer's instructions, which means less nutritional degradation risk. If you like tech and want the most consistent option, the Baby Brezza Safe and Smart, which performed well in our consistency testing and includes a downloadable app for changing warmer settings. Last, if you want an option with more setting choices that are easy to use and performs well for health and safety, it is the Chicco Digital Bottle Warmer & Sterilizer. Which option is right for you depends on your goals and budget.
