Our Verdict

The Imagine Baby Pocket Snap fits babies from 8-35+ lbs. It's an economical pocket-style diaper with a notable absorbency performance in our tests. It has a waterproof exterior and a microfleece interior, which does an excellent job of wicking moisture away from the baby's skin. The simple insert is made of microfiber and can hold an impressive amount of liquid. While it doesn't stand out among the best cloth diaper competition for anything else, this diaper's simple design gets the job done. If you are interested in cloth diapers but are worried that the initial cost will be out of your price range, the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap may be the diapering solution for you.

Bottom Line A pocket-style diaper with notable absorbency but otherwise basic and difficult to adjustIdeal for use in on-the-go cloth diapering, with a simple set up and cleaning routine, but the liner is free floating and single gussetEasy to use hybrid diaper system with potential for great absorbency but has more prep and a funky fitAn inexpensive set of pocket diapers to kick off cloth diapering, but it isn't the most absorbentThis pocket diaper struggles to perform, making it one you can pass on

Our Analysis and Test Results

Imagine Baby Products was founded in 2010 by Nicki Maynard, the creator and owner of Nicki's Diapers. Nicki created the brand to help fill a need for economical cloth diapers that are easy to use and buy. Over the past few years, the brand has expanded to include more products, but the mission is still the same - making cloth diapers accessible to everyone.

Absorbency

Absorbency is the most crucial factor we consider when testing, and the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap exceeded our expectations in absorbency testing, scoring close to the top.

The Imagine Baby Pocket Snap comes with one 4-layer microfiber insert. We experienced no leaks and were surprised by the notable amount of liquid it could retain. The fluffy microfleece interior lining quickly wicked away any moisture and kept the baby dry.

The combination of these features helped this diaper earn high marks in our absorbency tests, and Imagine's filter paper result (above) shows minimal green (mock urine), which is ideal. Traditionally, pocket diapers have performed the best in this category, and this diaper is no exception.

Fit/Leakage

This diaper fits babies from 8-35 lbs and scores about average in this test metric.

We found it reasonably easy to get a good fit around our little tester's legs and waist. With three rise snap positions and five adjustment options on the double row of waist snaps, there is room for fit variation. After one particularly long nap, we noticed the outer gussets were a bit damp. But, we had no problems with gapping or leakage during our test.

While the microfiber insert is large enough to handle almost anything we could throw at it, we also appreciate a smaller option to cut down on bulk for smaller infants who do not need as much absorbency. However, a single insert may not provide enough absorbency for heavy wetters. Thankfully, the large pocket on the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap is roomy and would comfortably accommodate an additional soaker if needed.

Comfort

Compared to the competition, the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap is below average in comfort.

It may seem like a given to expect slightly lower quality with a less expensive diaper. Some users experienced issues with the gussets losing elasticity and snaps falling off after some use.

Although straight out of the box, the microfleece lining is very soft; it may start to pill after a few washes. It does not affect performance, but the diaper will not stay as cozy throughout its lifetime.

Ease of Use

As a pocket diaper, it may be no surprise that the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap scores slightly above average for ease of use.

Pocket diapers require more prep work and disassembly for washing. Thankfully, the opening is one of the largest we've seen, and we had no problem stuffing the insert. This feature makes the unstuffing process much easier as well. The only downside of this large pocket is that the interior material is baggy and does not fall neatly into place as other diapers might. You must make sure to arrange the lining to prevent gapping. Otherwise, the soggy insert could come into contact with the baby's skin.

Also, a pocket diaper is a one-time deal, like a disposable diaper. Once the liner is wet or soiled, you must toss it into the wet bag or the diaper pail for laundry day. This means you'll need to supply your stash with enough diapers for a day or two, depending on how often you do laundry.

Should You Buy the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap?

We are delighted to see an economical top-ranked cloth diaper to further open the doors of cloth diapering, making it accessible for more families. Although the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap is basic, its absorbency impressed us. If you're willing to stuff this pocket diaper, it could be an economical addition to your diapering stash. Also, the pocket-like opening is bigger, so this diaper may be easier if you have larger hands.

What Other Cloth Diaper Should You Consider?

If you want the absolute highest absorbency and better comfort and are willing to sacrifice some ease of use, the Rumparooz Pocket may be what you seek. This diaper offers excellent absorbency, adjustability, and a long lifespan of 35+ lbs. If you want easy to use without sacrificing absorption and functionality, the Thirsties Duo Wrap with Stay Dry Duo Insert is a cloth option for your shortlist. This option is not one-size-fits-all, so over time, it could impact your bottom line in more ways than you anticipate.
