The Skinny

The Imagine Baby Pocket Snap was a new product to us here at BabyGearLab. We were unsure what to expect from this diaper compared to the cloth diapering competition. We put it through the paces, and we were more than impressed in the end. It is one of the lowest-priced options in our review while simultaneously being an above-average performer. The cozy microfleece lining does an excellent job of wicking moisture away from the baby's skin, and the amount of liquid the single insert can hold is impressive. If you are interested in cloth diapers but are worried that the initial cost will be out of your price range, have no fear! The Imagine Baby Pocket Snap is the perfect diapering solution for you.

Our Analysis and Test Results

Imagine Baby Products was founded in 2010 by Nicki Maynard, the creator, and owner of Nicki's Diapers. Nicki created the brand to help fill a need for economical cloth diapers that are easy to use and easy to buy. Over the past few years, the brand has expanded to include more products, but the mission is still the same - make cloth diapers accessible to everyone.

Absorbency

Scoring very near the top of the group, the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap exceeded our expectations in absorbency testing.

We had no leaks, minimal run-off, and a quick absorbency time. Traditionally, pocket diapers have performed the best in this category, and this diaper is no exception.

Likes

First, absorbency is the most crucial factor we consider when testing. We were more than satisfied with this pocket diaper and were surprised by the notable amount of liquid it could retain thanks to its 4-layer microfiber insert. The fluffy microfleece lining quickly wicked away any moisture and kept the baby dry. These features combined earned this diaper a top spot in our absorbency tests.

The Pocket Snap keeps it simple by utilizing only a single insert, but the pocket is extra large and would comfortably accommodate an extra soaker if needed. The opening is the largest we've seen, and we had no problem stuffing the insert. This feature makes the unstuffing process much easier as well.

The stretchy single gusset helped us find a good fit around baby's legs.

This diaper will fit babies from 8-35 lbs, and we found it reasonably simple to get a good fit around our tester baby's legs and waist. With three rise snap positions and five adjustment options on the double row of waist snaps, there is a lot of room for variation. We did not have any problems with gapping or leakage during our tests. Although after one particularly long nap, we did notice that the outer gussets were a bit damp.

Dislikes

Unlike other pocket diapers we reviewed, the Pocket Snap only comes with a single insert. While it was large enough to handle most anything we could throw at it, we would have appreciated a smaller option. We like having the ability to cut down on bulk for smaller infants who do not need as much absorbency. A single insert also means that if your baby is a heavy wetter, you may find it necessary to purchase an additional insert. Pocket diapers with dual inserts included already have this benefit. We also mentioned that we love the extra-large pocket opening. The only downside to this is that it does not fall neatly into place as other diapers might; you must make sure to arrange the lining to prevent gapping. Otherwise, the soggy insert could come into contact with the baby's skin.

The stay-dry fleece lining covers the entire inside of the diaper, but you must be sure that there is an overlap at the pocket opening.

It may seem like a given to expect slightly lower quality with a less expensive diaper. Some users have had issues with the gussets losing elasticity and snaps falling off after some use. Although straight out of the box, the microfleece lining is very soft; it may start to pill after a few washes. It does not affect performance, but the diaper will not stay as cozy throughout its lifetime.

Should You Buy the Imagine Baby Pocket Snap?

We are pleasantly surprised with the performance of this newcomer to our review. We are happy to see an affordable diaper that is reliable and high-performing, opening the doors of cloth diapering further and making it accessible to more families. Budget aside, we were impressed with the function of this diaper overall. This diaper will work well for almost any baby with a top absorbency score, a good fit, and easy-to-use features. We think parents will be satisfied.

What Other Cloth Diaper Should You Consider?

If you want the absolute highest absorbency and are willing to sacrifice some ease of use, the Rumparooz Pocket is a contender. This diaper offers great absorbency and adjustability, with a long lifespan of 40+ pounds. If you want easy to use without sacrificing absorption and functionality, the Thirsties Duo Wrap with Stay Dry Duo Insert is a cloth option for your shortlist as well. This option is not a one size fits all, and this means over time, it could impact your bottom line in more ways than you anticipate.
