Pros: Relatively low-priced, best-in-class range and clarity, easy-to-use Cons: Smaller 2.8 inch screen, no remote controlled pan/tilt Bottom line: A compelling video monitor the delivers strong performance at an attractive price
Bottom Line
This is the lower-cost 2.8 inch LCD screen size version of our Editors' Choice winner, the Motorola Digital Video Baby Monitor with 3.5 inch screen. It offers the same award winning features and functionality for $50 less, but without the same screen size and absent the remote-controlled pan/tilt feature. For the parent looking for a quality video monitor at a better price, this is the video monitor we'd recommend you look most closely at. With award-winning range and clarity, this is a strong offering at a compelling price. It earned our Best Value award. Give it a close look.

For a street price under $200, the Motorola Digital Video 2.8 inch monitor offers terrific bang-for-the-buck.
Likes We like this monitor a lot. It offers the same best-in-class range, sound clarity, and immunity to interference we found in our Editors' Choice winner, the Motorola Digital Video Baby Monitor with 3.5 inch screen. Image quality is quite good despite the smaller 2.8 inch screen, and although we like the 3.5 inch screen better, the 2.8 inch is more than adequate. It's easy to use, and still offers features we love in the 3.5 inch model like sound activation and talk-to-baby. Dislikes We miss the remote controlled pan/tilt feature of the 3.5 inch model, but its frankly not crucial with an infant (they don't move around a lot in the crib). In the long-term you can overcome the lack of remote controlled pan/tilt with careful camera placement and/or buying additional cameras to cover multiple rooms or gain more viewing angles. As we noted in the 3.5 inch monitor review, we also are disappointed that Motorola did not provide a sound activation feature in these video monitors. Conclusion The Motorola Digital Video 2.8 inch (MBP33) model offers great bang-for-the-buck. You can save a significant amount of money if you are willing to pass on the remote-controlled pan/tilt feature and accept a slightly smaller screen size. We think it's a compelling video monitor. It earns our Best Value award. — RJ Spurrier Compare this product side-by-side to top competitors >
